Recoup

Recoup finds deleted photos and videos on external HDDs, SSDs, SD cards, and USB drives — and rescues what's still readable from failing ones.

It scans the raw disk directly, so it works regardless of the file system (FAT / exFAT / NTFS / APFS) and can find files that no longer appear in any folder.

Recover Deleted Files

Scans the whole disk and reconstructs photos and videos from their file structure. Everything it finds is shown as thumbnails, so you can see what's actually recoverable before you restore anything.

Salvage Copy

For drives that still mount but are misbehaving. Copies the files that can be read; when a block is unreadable it fills that part and moves on instead of giving up on the whole file.

Disk Image

For drives in bad shape (odd noises, frequent disconnects). Images the whole disk once so you can do everything else against the image instead of the dying drive.

■ What it can and can't do

Good at: recovering photos and videos deleted by mistake, and salvaging readable files from a failing drive.

Cannot: recover data that has already been overwritten (stop using the card as soon as you notice), recover from physically dead media, or restore original filenames, dates, and folder structure. Long fragmented videos may come back only partially. MTS (AVCHD), FUJIFILM RAF, and Olympus ORF are not supported by the carver.

■ Requirements

macOS 26 or later (Apple Silicon / Intel). A separate disk with free space for the recovered files. Scanning a raw disk requires an administrator password (standard macOS prompt).

この手のアプリの多くは、既存の写真ライブラリを一覧しているだけです。Recoup はカードやドライブの実際のセクタを読み、ファイルシステムが手放したデータを掘り出します。買い切り。サブスクなし。「9,999件復元可能！」のような水増し表示もしません。

■ 3つの機能

【削除ファイル復元】

ディスク全体を走査し、ファイル構造から写真・動画を組み立て直します。見つかったものはサムネイルで一覧表示されるので、実際に救えているかを目で確かめてから復元できます。

【救出コピー】

マウントはできるが調子の悪いドライブ向け。読めるファイルをコピーし、読めないブロックがあってもその部分だけ飛ばして続行します。1ファイル丸ごと諦めません。

【ディスクをイメージ化】

異音がする、頻繁に切断されるなど重症のドライブ向け。一度だけ全体を読んでイメージ化し、以降の作業は弱ったドライブではなくイメージに対して行えます。

・完全オフライン。通信・アナリティクス・テレメトリは一切ありません。

・復元元には書き込みません。復元したファイルは指定した保存先にのみ書き出します。

・中断・再開に対応。数TBの長時間スキャンも途中から続けられます。

・日本語・英語対応（システムの言語設定に自動追従）。

■ できること・できないこと

得意なこと：誤って削除した写真・動画の復元、調子の悪いドライブからの読める範囲のサルベージ。

できないこと：すでに上書きされたデータの復元（削除に気づいたらそのカードの使用をすぐ止めてください）、物理的に完全故障した媒体からの復元、ファイル名・撮影日時・フォルダ構造の復元。断片化した長時間動画は途中までしか戻らないことがあります。MTS（AVCHD）、FUJIFILM RAF、Olympus ORF はカービング非対応です。

■ 動作環境

macOS 26 以降（Apple Silicon / Intel）。復元ファイル用に、復元元とは別のディスクの空き容量が必要です。生ディスクの走査には管理者パスワードの入力が必要です（macOS標準の認証ダイアログ）。
